A Trip to the River

This past weekend, I headed to Hamilton to pick-up Miss EK from Gram and Pop's house. She had been staying with them since Tuesday night since Jonathan and I were out of town (I had a conference in New Orleans for work). I ended up staying the weekend (Jonathan had to work) and on Saturday, Carrie Beth and the boys made there way to Hamilton as well.

So of course we had to go play at the river!!

Best Cousins For Life:
Elly K loved being in the float. However, if you put her down to walk she would freeze up. It was quite hilarious! She has walked on those rocks several times, so I don't know what her deal was on this occasion.
Gram and Pop enjoyed the river the most (please notice that Gracie, a Shih Tzu, is sitting on my dad's lap....in the river....HA):
Gram, Pop, and the grand-kids:
So happy that Elly K (and her future sibling) will get to enjoy the river as much as I did when I was a child!

Father's Day

Father's Day was a fun day around our house! Jonathan was on night shift so before he got home that morning, EK and I went and got him some biscuits from Bojangles. Of course he went right to bed and when he finally woke up we headed straight to the Cheesecake Factory (YUMMY)!

When we got back EK thought it would be fun to soak herself and play in the water table.
Then finally, right before bedtime, I was able to get a picture of these two cuties:
Overall we had a great Father's Day!

Latch Board

Elly K needed something new to play with while commuting on Monday and Tuesday mornings (she rides with me to work on these days and stays with her Mimi who lives right down the road). So last night, I ran into Wal-Mart and grabbed some locks and latches. We already had a board cut to the right size from another project. So when I got home, I painted the board, assembled the locks and latches, and added some words. Now Elly K has a "Momma-made" latch board for the car!
She really doesn't it get the idea of it yet but it keeps her attention for a good bit of time!
And it was a perfect fit for the car seat:

Elly K and Bourbon

I only told one of these to sit....but both listened!

Big Eater

Someone is really enjoying food these days! Although she is still the SLOWEST.EATER.EVER! Friday night when I got to Hamilton, she had been eating for almost an hour and was still going...one morsel at a time.

Dancing Queen (Literally)

This weekend, we attended a wedding. This weekend, we learned quite a bit about our daughter. This weekend, our daughter was a dancing queen!
After an hour drive and an hour wedding, EK was acting a little whiny. However, once she hit the dance floor, she was good to go!
She had crazy arms!
Then the dress went up...
She would sit down to only keep on dancing while seated!
She got down low:
And the dress went up again!
Yep...that's Elly K, our daughter:
She even danced with complete strangers!!
We were shocked at how crazy and happy she was dancing! There were very few people that didn't see Elly K dancing since the band's lead singer mentioned EK's dancing abilities at least three times...over the microphone!

First Ponytail!

Elly K is sporting her first ponytail.....although it might be a while before we debut this look out in public! ;)

Fun at Papa's!

EK and cousin Jax playing at Papa's house on family night!

Daddy Mornings

Some Wednesday mornings, Jonathan is able to keep Elly K till my mom makes it over for the rest of the day.  This all depends on his work schedule. Well, this morning Miss EK and her Daddy are hanging out till around mid-day. Since we have such a late sleeper, I usually leave while EK is still asleep then request a morning picture when she wakes up. Well this is what I have gotten so far this morning!

This is probably the craziest her hair has ever been:
And look how happy that little girl is this morning!
She loves her pop tarts and her Daddy!

Video Post

I need to catch up the ol' blog with some videos I have on my phone!

Here is a video from last week! Elly K and Jack got some playtime together while Curt was at VBS:

Playing with Daddy! She loves to watch this video and I love the giggles:

This video is from a while back (end of April) but she continues to play this little game. Sometimes we will look around and EK will be missing in the house. 99.9% of the time she has shut herself in a room and can't get out:

What's EK Up To?

So I thought before I forget a lot of the little things that Elly K is in to right now, I might need to write them down. And by write them down, I mean blog about it! This officially has become my method for keeping up with Elly K (and will be for the next baby too). I think I made it through month 5 in EK's baby book, but on here I think I have been pretty good about posting each month.

So here is EK's current status update:
We have one HAPPY baby on our hands! She is full of energy, smiles, love, and kisses. The only time she gets upset or cranky is when she's sleepy or frustrated that she did get what she wanted. If she doesn't get her way, she has started throwing tantrums that we can't help but laugh at.  She will literally bend at the waist, put her forehead on the ground and cry. I can't wait till she gets to be 2/3 (that was said with TONS of sarcasm).
Things she loves right now:
  • Carrying bags around like a purse (any bag)
  • Loving on her baby dolls (she will give them kisses and pat their booties)
  • Giving kisses to people
  • Getting into the pantry and playing with the K-Cups
  • Turning circles to Ring Around the Rosies
  • Eating with a fork or spoon (even when its not appropriate food for a fork or spoon)
  • Putting clothes on (she will put them on her arms or around her neck and walk around)
  • Pushing the buggies at stores
  • Climbing (enough said)
  • Getting items out of the kitchen cabinets and playing with them
  • Playing outside
  • She will go to bed on her own (if you ask her is she wanted to go to bed, she will take off down the hall, making sure you are following her, then wait to be picked up and laid in her crib)
  • She still sleeps through the night
  • Loves being thrown on the bed and thinks our bed is a playground
  • Still loves bath time but she will let you know when she is ready to get out
  • Shakes her head no when she doesn't want a particular food
  • Still gets one bottle a day (4 ounces of milk right before bed)
  • Prancing (or high stepping as we call it) everywhere...Kinda looks like one of those Tennessee Walking Horses when they prance
  • Finally started getting the hang of a regular sippy cup but still prefers something with a straw
  • Puts her hand out towards an items if she wants it
  • Can point to her nose (she doesn't always hit the mark, but she's getting closer)
  • Claps for herself
  • Finally getting into cartoons (which gives us a few minutes of peacefulness)
  • EK will give you an ear full (She just talks and talks, however we have no clue what she is saying, we just go along with it)
  • Takes her paci out on command and leaves it in her bed
